Stars, Cars and National Automotive Honors

2011 Chrysler Nationals Offers Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience for Automotive Enthusiasts

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Hollywood legends will be on site. Iconic cars will be showcased. One car will be selected to appear at SEMA, THE premier automotive trade show held annually each fall in Las Vegas. One person will win a car, while another will win an engine. The 2011 Chrysler Nationals, July 8-10 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, is expected to celebrate its 21st birthday in style by hosting nearly 2,500 cars and thousands of Mopar supporters for three days of family fun and entertainment.

Cars and stars are intertwined at Carlisle in 2011 as the Christine Car Club presents a slew of well known names that have appeared with some well known cars in famed automotive movies and TV shows. Slated to be together in one place for the first time in Carlisle are John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard), Cindy Williams (Laverne and Shirley/American Graffiti), Paul Le Mat (American Graffiti) and William Ostrander (Christine).

In addition to the actors, their iconic autos will be on display, including an original General Lee Charger, an original T-Bucket from Happy Days and the original '32 Deuce Coupe that Le Mat drove in the climactic race scene in American Graffiti. A replica of the Christine car will also be on hand.

Continuing with the excitement of the weekend, one showfield registrant will be chosen as the Mopar “Top Eliminator” for 2011. This program has been a part of the Chrysler Nationals since its inception. It recognizes diehard and loyal Mopar owners who are true ambassadors of the brand and who exhibit their passion and skills in modifying or preserving a piece of Mopar muscle car heritage. Mopar factory representatives will scour the grounds to evaluate all qualified automobiles and then they’ll announce the winner on Sunday, July 10. The winning car and its owner will be rewarded with an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas and the SEMA show. Showfield registration is available online at www.CarlisleEvents.com or by calling 717-243-7855.

Being selected for a trip to Las Vegas isn’t the only prize to be doled out during the Chrysler Nationals. Attendees will also have a chance to win a car or an engine. The engine is a 450-inch Big Block Stroker based on a 383 block and is awarded courtesy of Muscle Motors and Mopar Muscle. This engine has 496 horse power and 540 foot pounds of torque, runs on pump gas and uses a hydraulic roller-camshaft for low maintenance. This is a dynamite combination for just about any Mopar!

In addition to the engine, a car is up for grabs. This year’s ride is a red 1999 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The car has 78,000 miles on it, is a V-6 with an automatic transmission, has leather interior, alloy wheels, power top, power windows and power locks. For both the car and engine, no additional purchase is necessary and you do not need to be present to win. Hopeful winners can register online or on site throughout the event.

Along with giveaways and industry guests, there will be a burnout competition, a beauty contest and so much more. The Carlisle Chrysler Nationals offers a true Mopar-lover’s paradise. With vehicles from all eras of the Chrysler brand - classics, muscle cars, high-performance new models and more - you won’t want to miss the enormous showfield organized by year, make and model as well as fantastic indoor displays. In addition, there are a slew of kids’ activities, industry guests, a huge swap meet and car corral, car and engine giveaways as well as NHRA drag racing. Whether you prefer the A, B or E body style – this show has it all!
