Carlisle Proves the Tuner/Custom Car Movement Still Alive!

2010 Carlisle Performance & Style Event: More Cars, More People

The feeling among many in the automotive industry and hobby is that the custom/tuner car and truck hobby is not as strong as it was five to eight years ago. Despite record winds and unseasonably cold weather, Carlisle Performance & Style proved over the weekend of May eighth and ninth, at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, that enthusiasts involved today are even more passionate about their hobby than ever before! Carlisle Events, one of the world’s largest presenters of car, truck and motorcycle events hosted the fourteenth year of the Carlisle Performance & Style event and the enthusiasts came in droves. Vehicles that registered for the showfield were up over 5% from Performance & Style 2009, with almost 1,600 vehicles. With the cars came the people; attendees came through the Carlisle gates to see the cars, special displays, competitions and entertainment.

Highlights from the Carlisle Performance & Style event weekend included SEMA showcase vehicles on display and three special invitational displays – celebrating three aspects of the hobby (WR Team’s Tuned in T: celebrating Tuner/Sport-Compacts; RIX Magazine VIP/Luxury Lane: showcasing custom luxury vehicles; and the Modern Muscle/Import Performance Pavilion: highlighting domestic and import cars built for performance). In addition to the fantastic cars and trucks on display, the weekend included two model search/bikini contests, drifting exhibitions, auto-cross racing, free-style moto-cross exhibitions, a rap battle, club games, graffiti displays, the famous Carlisle burnout contest and much more! The excitement will continue next May, with the 15th edition of Carlisle Performance & Style – May 14-15. Patrick Lemay, Event Manager for Carlisle Performance & Style, had this to say about this year’s turnout and next year’s event, “Now that the world knows we are here (custom/tuner enthusiasts), let’s show everyone that Carlisle is the place to enjoy and showcase our passion in an even bigger way in 2011!”
