Carlisle Performance & Style 2009: May 9-10 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds
The automotive event with the hottest, loudest, most tricked out rides on the East Coast
Monday, April 13, 2009
Carlisle Performance & Style is the automotive event with the hottest, loudest, most tricked-out rides on the east coast. Held May 9-10 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, Performance & Style will be filled with drifting and autocross action; a showfield with over 1,500 vehicles ranging from custom compacts, VIP sedans and SUVs, donks, mini-trucks & modern muscle; a flaming hot burnout contest; special guests and celebrity builders like Aaron Vaccar; and a thumpin’ dB Drag & Bass Race audio competition. In addition to all of the automotive excitement will be a neon contest lighting up the Carlisle skies, bikini clad beauties competing to be Miss Performance & Style, live music filling the air, the first Carlisle gaming tournament and a manufacturers midway and vending area. The cars, activity and excitement happening throughout the weekend will demonstrate why P&S is one of the most well attended events for custom car enthusiasts in the country.
In a tough economic year many similar events have had to close their doors. Rich Dallas, Carlisle Events Director of Event Management and Event Manager for Performance & Style attributes the continued success of this show to the fact that P&S is the most complete auto event of its kind. “You won’t find all the great activities we have packed into two days anywhere else. Whether you are new to the world custom cars and the lifestyle or you are a professional builder who has been in the scene for years, this is more than a car show; this is an event that has something for everyone.”
This year Carlisle Performance & Style has changed to a two-day format. Friday is now a vendor set-up day with Saturday and Sunday being show days. The new format will make for a weekend jam-packed with activity. Judging will now take place on Sunday, allowing for participants to enjoy the entertainment and activities on Saturday. The Top Flight judging will now be part of the F4 Challenge. F4 Challenge is the new platform in automotive showmanship. You will find the best-of-the-best going head-to-head. F4 Challenge will also include a class for amateurs, making the division open to ALL levels of vehicles. This event draws some heavy hitters like New Image Motorsports, WR Team, Team No Limit and Emotions. Last year NIM took home awards for best results and most participation with 16 registered vehicles.
A new competition to this year’s event is the Carlisle Gaming Tournament presented by the Harrisburg BALLERS Club. On Saturday, the Harrisburg BALLERS Club will present a gaming tournament featuring Madden '09, Guitar Hero 3, and Forza 2 for Xbox 360. Entry fee for the tournament will be $20 per game with over $3,000 in prizes.
Performance and Style, like the other specialty automotive events held at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, is driven by local, regional, national and web-based car clubs. Two of the largest clubs that will be back to P&S in ’09 will be NICO (Nissan Infiniti Car Owners) and NELOC (Northeast Lexus Owners Club). In 2008 NELOC brought over 50 custom luxury vehicles that had the attention of all on hand when they rolled through the fairgrounds.
