This year there will be a racers round table that will allow the audience to hear some of the war stories that happened to various race car drivers on and off the track. It will be a wonderful gathering of incredible Corvette Race Cars and we expect this one to go into the history books!

Racing legend Mario Andretti, presented by MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust will be at Corvettes at Carlisle on Saturday to meet with fans, sign autographs and pick out his favorite Corvette on the Corvettes at Carlisle Fun Field. Named the “Driver of the Century” by the Associated Press and RACER Magazine, Andretti’s appearance will go hand-in-hand with the theme of this year’s Corvettes at Carlisle: a Corvette race car reunion. To go along with the race theme of this year’s Corvettes at Carlisle event, we wanted to give everyone a chance to get their Corvettes on the track before showing them off for the weekend. Corvettes at Carlisle Track Day will take place on the Tuesday before Corvettes at Carlisle (August 25th) at the Summit Point Motorsports Park in Summit Point, WV and will be open to all Corvettes with a spotlight on the “Race Car Reunion”.

On Sunday August 30th at the 2009 Corvettes at Carlisle at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds a 2004 Corvette will be given away to one lucky attendee. This Millennium Yellow Corvette LS1 (350 hp) with a 6 speed transmission was used as a Bondurant School of High Performance Driving vehicle and was purchased for the 2009 Corvettes at Carlisle Giveaway sponsored by ProTeam Corvette Sales. Carlisle Events decided to include their own sticker theme to help gain attention throughout the season. This is no ordinary 2004 Corvette, but a turnkey, reliable track and street prepared car that is guaranteed to put a huge grin on your face every time you get behind the wheel. The modifications that were done to this vehicle include a roll bar behind the front seats that have race harnesses mounted to both seats, halon fire system, Ron Davis Aluminum radiator, Borla cat-back exhaust system, Z06 brake cooling ducts for the front and rear brakes, transmission cooler, differential cooler, power steering cooler, high performance springs, performance friction brake pads and a few other goodies.

The GM team members that created the Corvette will be once again be on-hand to meet with the enthusiasts that drive their passion – you! At last year’s Corvettes at Carlisle, the GM team unveiled the new ZR1 with an engineering and design walk-around. This year – it’s the long awaited 2010 Gran Sport. The GM team members also be conducting seminars to better educate you on the Grand Sport - don't miss the seminars, walk-arounds and a chance to talk with the people who drive the Corvette.

Bring your Vette to our Autocross and see how good you and your car are. Sponsored by Cumberland Valley Corvette Club, the fee is $20 for 1 hour. Each driver will get three or four chances to run the course. CVCC will have instructors for each session to watch or ride and advise the novice drivers. This is to be a learning event for those just interested in the sport or just learning how to handle their Corvette and a chance for experienced drivers to compete against each other for fast time. If your car received an award from our celebrity judges, you and all the celebrity pick winners will parade to the stage. Your name will be announced as you pull up to the stage to receive the award from the Miller Family and beauty contestant winner. A great photo-op for family and friends! The 2009 Chip’s Choice theme will consist of Corvettes that raced in the 24 hours of Le Mans. Corvettes at Carlisle is fun for the entire family, and we have not forgotten the kids. In the Kids at Carlisle Activity Center Area, we have automotive themed crafts for kids and parents to enjoy together. There is also a contest for kids to design a poster around our new mascots Mandy and Max the Mechanics. Max and Mandy will visit the kids area periodically throughout the event. Another new contest is for “Carlisle Cuties” – babies and toddlers up to age 3 – to dress to impress in their Corvette or Carlisle themed apparel. Cuties will meet at the grandstand on Sunday at 12:30; all participants will receive a toy and the cutie with the best outfit will win a $100 US Savings Bond. We’ve also added new play activities that we think will “wow” the young ones; come and check it out!

The NCRS Gallery's Purpose is to present an ever-changing unique Corvette collection in a true gallery exhibit format. This enables non-NCRS members to have a better understanding of the National Corvette Restorers Society, its goals and purposes. The collection is made up of 22 Corvettes. One Corvette will represent each of the 17 NCRS Judging Classes, along with a Duntov Mark of Excellence Award® winner, a McLellan Mark of Excellence Award® winner, an NCRS-Chevrolet Bowtie Award® recipient for Preservation Excellence, an American Heritage Award® recipient, and a Sportsman Award® Corvette. Be sure not to miss this phenomenal display!

We're continuing our 50th anniversary celebration extravaganzas with select 1959 Corvettes. They will be displayed under a tent and will be superior examples either in original condition or restored to original and Race Car examples. Carlisle residents come out en masse to watch this annual parade in the heart of the downtown historic district. Corvettes park in the area around the square and have time to enjoy the downtown ambience.

Registration:

• Saturday, 8 a.m. until filled at tent on Fun Display Show Field and at Gate 1.
• $30 fee includes goody bag with T-shirt & special parade dash plaque.

The most beautiful women at Corvettes at Carlisle compete for cash prizes on Saturday afternoon at the Grandstand. Ladies can register at the Information Booth by the stage Friday and Saturday prior to the event. The cash prizes will include $500 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd & $100 for 3rd place.

Chip Miller, co-founder of Carlisle Events, passed away from complications related to primary Amyloidosis in March 2004. The rare plasma cell disorder affects the body's primary organs. On Saturday at noon, we would like for all drivers near their Corvettes to start their engines and give them a good rev for 15 seconds in tribute to Chip Miller (co-founder of Carlisle Events) and all of our other Corvette friends that have passed, followed by a brief moment of silence.

Awards are presented Sunday at 1:00 PM during the Awards Parade. If you cannot attend the parade, your award can be picked up Sunday between 9:00-11:00 AM. Carlisle Events will no longer provide shipping of awards at no cost. After the show you may pick up your award during regular business hours at the fairgrounds or pay $10 per award for shipping.
