DON GARLITS PRESENTED BY MAGNAFLOW DON GARLITS PRESENTED BY MAGNAFLOW
“Big Daddy“ at the ‘09 All-Chrysler Nationals to meet fans

Carlisle Events is proud to announce a partnership with MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust to welcome back drag racing legend “Big Daddy” Don Garlits to this year’s Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals. “Big Daddy” Don Garlits is considered by many to be the patriarch of Top-Fuel drag racing for having developed the first successful rear-engine dragster. Garlits has been competing and winning consistently in drag racing for four decades. In 2001, NHRA voted him the number one driver of their first 50 years. Don’t miss your chance to meet with Garlits to talk drag racing and Mopars at the 2009 All-Chrysler Nationals.

2009 ALL-CHRYSLER NATIONALS GIVEAWAY 2009 ALL-CHRYSLER NATIONALS GIVEAWAY
1969 PLYMOUTH FURY III

On Saturday at 7 pm, this 1969 Fury III will be driven home by one lucky winner as the All-Chrysler Nationals Giveaway. Introduced in 1956, the Fury is said to have been a car that was developed by the Chrysler Corporation’s design team for the sole purpose of drawing potential buyers into their showrooms across the country. With a less chrome and fin then the original Fury, this two-door, convertible, V8 with “15 inch wheels, whitewall tires and a brand-new power top still has the same stopping power. To be eligible to win, you must be present with your giveaway ticket. After the winning number is called, the individual with that ticket will have ten minutes to present it at the stage.

    ENGINE GIVEAWAY ENGINE GIVEAWAY
    A great prize for ‘09

We’re again teaming up with Mopar Muscle magazine and Muscle Motors for another cool engine giveaway. This time it’s going to be a big block of the low deck variety. After the 600 horsepower 505” stroker we gave away this year, perhaps this one will be a little more appropriate for a typical street cruiser. For details and specs you’ll need to check out the pages of Mopar Muscle. No purchase is necessary for the giveaway but you must be present to win.

      MOPAR SURVIVORS MOPAR SURVIVORS
      They’re only original once

They still have their original factory applied paint, interiors and drive trains; or at least 85% at a minimum. They are Survivors and thanks to Mel Major we’ve been able to bring you over forty of these amazing Mopars for each of the last several years. Survivors are time capsules and are the best way to see for yourself exactly how these vehicles were assembled on the line. Stop by and take lots of reference photos for your restoration project, to enhance your knowledge or just to admire these rare beauties. If you have a Mopar that you feel might qualify as a Survivor please contact Mel directly at mkmajor@surferie.net for more information.

A12 ROAD RUNNER/SUPER BEE REUNION A12 ROAD RUNNER/SUPER BEE REUNION
Four hood pins, six barrels and 390 horses!

They’re back! We hosted the A12 Reunion in 2005 and now they’re back for the 40th Anniversary of these factory street racers. Who else but Chrysler would release a car to the public with the hottest street engine, a pin on fiberglass hood with a huge functional scoop and plain steel wheels? Checking off option code A12 netted you all that plus a Dana rear with 4.10 gears. Add a pair of slicks and you were ready to race! Four decades later A12s are as popular as ever. To register your A12 for the reunion, please click here.

M CODE DART / 'CUDA REUNION M CODE DART / 'CUDA REUNION
Chrysler’s biggest engine in the smallest car!

We’re working with owners, registries and web sites dedicated to 440-powered ’69 Darts and 'Cudas in an attempt to create the largest gathering ever of these lightweight street beasts. The first big block A-Bodies debuted in ’67 but in ’69 Chrysler decided to stuff their largest displacement engine in the lightest available bodies creating the M-Code Darts and 'Cudas. These cars were built in very limited numbers and it’s estimated that only about 100 of each still exist. If you have a factory 440 Dart or 'Cuda you won’t want to miss this! To register your M Code Dart or 'Cuda for the reunion, please click here. If you have a car finished or not email Dave at: mcodecuda@yahoo.com for more info and a mailed invite/informational letter.

PROJECT SIX PACK PROJECT SIX PACK
        Special Invitational Debut

Best of Show Automotive and Ted Struse will unveil the legendary 1969 ½ Plymouth Road Runner A12, Project Six Pack, newly restored back to national record holder form. Project Six Pack will be on display in Building T, as part of the invitational display. This is the Struse-Smith-Welsh prepped NHRA Record Holder that for several years was a test car and was consistently featured in Super/Stock magazine.

          BILL STILES BILL STILES
With his winning ’68 Barracuda and ’70 Duster

Bill Stiles began his racing career with a ’56 Chevy. Like so many successful racers of the time, he eventually saw the light and switched to Chrysler products. In the latter part of 1967, Stiles had an opportunity to make a pass in the factory test mule for the ’68 Super Stock Hemi Barracuda. Impressed by the car’s performance, he made sure he had one of his own for the ’68 season. Bill and his ’68 Barracuda dominated Super Stock racing on the East Coast. For the ’70 season, Bill moved to Pro Stock with a Duster that he ran until ’73. Bill will be at the All-Chrysler Nationals with the Barracuda and the Duster, all-weekend on the Stage to meet with fans and talk racing and Mopars.

            DON GROTHEER DON GROTHEER
            Conducting a SuperCar Clinic

Winner of the 1969 Winternationals, Don Grotheer and the ’68 SS/B Hemi Barracuda that he drove to the winners circle will be at the All-Chrysler Nationals. This car has been restored to its original ’68 racing condition by Chuck Smith’s Classic Cars and may be at the show (we are keeping our fingers crossed). Don also built a replica of his ’68 Hemi Barracuda using many parts from the original car. Don will be recreating the Super Car Clinics that he conducted for Plymouth in the late ‘60s as a part of the ’69 Retro Dealership. You won’t want to miss this!

              TRUCK TUG-O-WAR TRUCK TUG-O-WAR
Is Your Dodge Truck “Ram Tough”?

This is the real opportunity to show if you and your truck are “Ram Tough.” The concept is simple: hitch two trucks together and step on the gas! From there it is just like tug of war in gym class: whoever pulls the other truck across the line first wins. The winners of the Carlisle Truck Tug-O-War at the Ford, GM and Chrysler Nationals will be invited back to the All-Truck Nationals (Aug. 7-9) for a showdown of the big-3.

                ROCK CRAWL ROCK CRAWL
Hosted by Rausch Creek Off-Road Park

Last year we added a 9’ concrete wall to the rock pile to make for an even more challenging climb. See CJs, Wranglers and Cherokees take on the obstacles on the North Hill.

                  DRAG RACING DRAG RACING
Friday Evening - Hosted by Quarter Aces Drag-O-Way

Mopars and drag racing have always gone hand-in-hand and many of today’s OE restored show cars once made passes down the 1320 with some having been campaigned regularly. Drag racing takes place on Friday night at the 1/8 mile, , NHRA sanctioned, Quarter Aces Drag-O-Way in nearby Mt. Holly Springs; fee applies. New this year is the SuperCar ShootOut Series. For the first time ever at a Carlisle Events show, we’re going to re-ignite the factory wars of yester year. We’re opening the race track to ALL muscle cars. Bring on those bowties and blue ovals for a real factory showdown of factory muscle cars.

ROCKET CAR AND BLAST OFF TO THE BALL PARK ROCKET CAR AND BLAST OFF TO THE BALL PARK
                  Fun For the Entire Family

Blast off with the Rocket Car. Riding the Rocket Car around the fairgrounds is an out-of-this-world experience that will take kids big and small around the fairgrounds. On Friday night, don’t miss the cruise to the ball park lead by the Rocket Car. The cruise will leave the fairgrounds at 4PM headed to Metro Bank Park on Harrisburg’s City Island to watch the Harrisburg Senators (AA Washington Nationals) take on the Reading Phillies, at 7PM. Special parking will be made available for the first 50 cars. Registration for the first 50 cars will be available by purchasing advance tickets to the game on Friday on the fairgrounds.

                  Invitational Displays
Three buildings full of the coolest Mopars!

With over 2,000 Mopars competing on the Showfield we have almost every Chrysler product imaginable for your viewing pleasure. To further enhance that experience we select a handful of vehicles for our Invitational Display buildings. Building T houses everything from the latest designs from Ma Mopar to the debut of many just completed projects. Building Y will be reserved for a dozen of the famed A12 B bodies as part of their 40th Anniversary. 2009 will mark the third year that we’ve transformed Building G, located at Gate 1, into the 1969 Retro Dealership. What many people don’t know is that most of these cars are owned by people just like you. If you have a vehicle that you think belongs in one of these indoor displays, please complete and submit the Invitational Form.

                  Young Guns Classes
                  Sponsored by Mopar Muscle magazine

It’s been a few years since I would have been eligible for the Young Guns class but I do know that today’s youth is the future of our hobby! The Young Guns classes were added so that they can compete against and hang out with their peers. The Young Guns classes also make it easier for spectators to recognize the efforts of these young people and give them the credit they deserve. It’s also pretty cool to get ideas from this generation by checking out what they’re doing to their rides. See classics, late models, trucks and SUVs owned by the next generation of enthusiasts.

                  Club Challenge
                  Clubs compete for top honors

It’s no secret that Mopar people are some of the most social in the hobby so it should come as no surprise that there are many clubs in attendance at the show. To add to the competition among the cars there is a battle between the clubs to see who has the most cars registered. An added benefit is that we offer the use of a 20’ X 20’ tent to those clubs who register 25 vehicles or more. These tents are a great place to take a break and they make a great club headquarters for the weekend. Larger clubs may be eligible for a bigger tent. Contact us for details.

                    Test your horsepower

Dyno Dale will be here and will be very, very busy throughout the weekend. Axcelerated Motorsports is the official Dyno of Carlisle Events and frequents all Carlisle Car and Truck shows throughout the season. Axcelerated provides mobile Dyno tuning for cars and trucks using their Dynojet 248 chassis dynamometer. Next time you’re here, find out how much horsepower your car or truck really has! Their wide band O2 monitoring will determine if all that precious fuel is making power or just being wasted out the tailpipes.

Attention Clubs! Coming early or staying late? Club rates may apply for off peak hours at the events. A minimum number of cars may be required. Availability varies by event. For more information, please contact the Carlisle Dyno Guy at 215.297.8139 or dale@axceleratedmotorsports.com

Professional judging for stock and modified Mopars

For those who are ready for something more than the participant ballot judging of the showfield the All-Chrysler Nationals offers SME. SME judging has the cars competing against the judging sheets on a 100 point scale rather than against each other. SME is not to be taken lightly and many of the competitors return year after year using the scoring sheets and the judges’ advice to improve their scores. Click here to register for SME competition.

Another common trait among the Mopar faithful is the do-it-yourself attitude. To assist with that we continue to offer seminars for the novice and veteran alike all weekend. Building R is home to these educational sessions that include topics on performance, restoration and maintenance and are conducted by some of the biggest names in the business. Be sure to check back here on the event site leading up to the show and in the event magazine when you get here for a complete listing.
